L6258EP_PWM controlled high current DMOS general purpose motor driver

The L6258EP is a dual full bridge for motor control applications using BCD technology, with the ability to drive two windings of a bipolar stepper motor or bi-directional control of two DC motors. The L6258EP and some external components constitute a complete control and drive circuit. Its high efficiency phase-shifting chopper allows very low current ripple generation at the lowest current control levels, making the device ideal for stepper and DC motors.

The power stage is a dual DMOS full bridge capable of maintaining voltages up to 40V, including diodes for current recirculation. In continuous mode, the output current capacity of each winding is 1.3a and the peak starting current is up to 2A. If the chip temperature exceeds the safety limit, the thermal protection circuit will disable the output.
