“Rolling Thunder”

 By Larraine McClure

All it took was a phone call to get the motorcycle wheels to roll in order to participate in the “ Ride to the Wall”. The “ Ride To The Wall is an annual event sponsored by “ Rolling Thunder”,  an organization founded by the Vietnam Veterans, who tour the country in remembrance of the POW’s and MIA’s and those man and woman killed in the line of duty.

On May 27, 2002, Leslie Brewer, “MAC” McClure, “ Corky” Karen McClure, Corby McClure and GiGi McClure, Brian and Brenda McClure made the ride to the” Vietnam Memorial Wall” Washington D.C. in memory of the 420th Air Refueling Squadron.

Leslie Brewer rode in memory of her father Colonel James L. Brewer, while the McClure’s rode in memory of Capt E. J. McClure, (Father, Uncle and Great Uncle)

The ride started from the North Parking lot of the Pentagon at noon, toured the Washington Mall and ending with 350,000.00 motorcycles at the “ Vietnam Memorial Wall”

The riders who rode in honor of the 420th Air Refueling Squadron wore T-Shirts designed to remember family members. Larraine accompanied her son to Washington D.C. for the festivities

( Larraine did not ride the motorcycle to Washington D.C..)

Returning from the ride, each rider expressed a sense of Pride, Patriotism and reverence for those who served for God and Country

Larraine McClure.
