Castella, California

"The Last One Hundred Years"

1900-2000

When I reflect on the astonishing difference between today and the yesteryears in writing the history of Castella, California , I realize in a very personal way the truism that life has changed more drastically during this period than in any since history began. What an opportune era in which to live.  What an exciting time!  The new city of Castella, California was in the mood for forging a head, with the booming lumber and mining industry, building of the railroad and opening of the Castella Train Station.
The coming of the Southern Pacific railroad, which provided rail transportation and the opportunity for thousands of people to travel from the heat or fog of the Sacramento Valley and San Francisco Bay area, to enjoy the mountain coolest, fishing and the beautiful resorts in the Sacramento River Canyon.
"So come with me on a historical adventure" as I trace the history over the last century of the people, the business's and resorts of a wonderful city on the upper Sacramento River, Castella, California.
